Podiatry Services https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/podiatry-services/ Thu, 28 Dec 2023 08:19:16 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18569

Podiatry is a branch of medicine dedicated to treating the foot, ankle and lower extremities. Podiatrists diagnose and treat medical conditions related to this area of the body. These doctors can treat podiatry diseases as they relate to sports medicine, pediatrics, dermatology and diabetes, and can even be the first to identify and diagnose systemic diseases in the body.

For disabled adults in adult care and seniors with Alzheimer’s in senior care, having access to podiatry services in nursing homes is important for maintaining their health. Feet problems may be one of the last things people think of when thinking about maintaining good health, but podiatry can become incredibly important when foot pain limits mobility further. Many disabled and senior citizens have limited mobility due to a variety of reasons, including intellectual disability, physical pain or injury, difficulty with balance, poor hygiene, etc. Utilizing podiatry services to help keep feet problems at bay is essential to maintain mobility and overall health in disabled and senior citizens.

Benefits of Senior Podiatry Services

  • Prevents mobility problems in seniors and disabled who already have limited mobility
  • Early diagnosis of systemic disease (ex. diabetes)
  • Helps seniors and disabled adults maintain independence with pain relief and increased mobility

Our mission is to maintain the independence and well-being of our elderly and disabled participants. This cannot be done without regular podiatry services for our patients. We provide regular podiatrist services for each of our participants on an ongoing basis, ensuring their foot health helps to maintain their overall well-being and independence.

Library https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/library/ Thu, 28 Dec 2023 08:18:41 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18567

Our adult and senior library services include providing an environment conducive to learning and maintaining independence. Furthering education and stimulating the mind, our library programs for older adults allow participants to choose from reading materials and educational literature.

Benefits of Reading for Seniors and Disabled Adults

Mental Stimulation

Reading provides readers with mental stimulation, a form of brain exercise that keeps the brain active and engaged. Research suggests that the mental stimulation that comes from reading can potentially slow or prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Mental stimulation is just as important for adults with intellectual and cognitive learning disabilities as it is for seniors. Although disability will still be present, helping disabled adults learn and forge new brain pathways through reading is helpful in maintaining their independence.

Improves Memory

The mental exercise reading provides your brain also contributes to improving short-term memory recall. Remembering what you read in a book will not only improve short-term memory, but it will also help to form and strengthen brain pathways. All of this will assist in slowing down the aging brain and keeping memories longer as well as strengthening the disabled person’s brain and improving their sense of independence through improved memory.

Reduces Stress

For many seniors and disabled citizens, reading is a great way to reduce stress and get lost in another’s story. Reading books provides an excellent distraction from any stress seniors are feeling in their everyday life, as well as stress disabled adults may be feeling about their disability.

Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers provides a place for seniors and disabled adults to continue learning in a safe environment with access to our library programs for older adults or seniors. Physical Therapy https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/personal-care/ Mon, 27 Apr 2020 10:20:21 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=966

Physical therapy for elderly and disabled adults may be one of the most important services we offer at Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers. Helping seniors maintain and even regain independence, therapy offers strength training to increase balance, strength and overall mobility.

Our goal at the adult day care centers is to help our senior day care clients manage their health, reduce pain and increase functionality, which will increase longevity in their overall mental and physical health as they age. Osteoporosis, the progressive bone disease the depletes bone mass and density, makes seniors more liable to fall and cause serious injury. With a regular physical therapy training program, our senior day care clients combat the effects of the disease.

Benefits of Physical Therapy for Elderly Patients

Physical therapy exercises also assists in:

  • Managing pain and symptoms from arthritis and even Parkinson’s disease
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to work out, or maintain a desired level of wellness
  • Preserving joints and strength
  • Teaching therapeutic ways to minimize and alleviate pain
  • Learning new ways to modify activities to avoid falls or other injuries

After learning physical therapy techniques, our senior citizens who need physical therapy in Las Vegas enjoy faster recovery from injuries, increased endurance, better blood pressure and overall heart health. Your elderly or disabled loved one will experience a more improved physical and mental wellbeing and quality of life by using physical therapy techniques.

Our physical therapists at Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers are certified to help both elderly and disabled clients improve their strength and wellbeing. Enroll your loved one in our programs and watch their transformation with the help of our adult day care services.

Occupational & Speech Therapy https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/medical-escort/ Mon, 27 Apr 2020 10:18:08 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=963

In our effort to provide as many services as possible to help your loved one maintain or regain physical and mental strength, our adult day health care centers provide occupational therapy and speech therapy.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapists rehabilitate clients to help them achieve daily tasks, or occupations by themselves to become more independent. They work with people of all ages to assist them in one day becoming more productive and independent in physical, social and emotional situations.

Keep in mind, physical therapy and occupational therapy are not the same. Occupational therapists help newborns all the way to seniors who have a disability or illness that makes them struggle to do everyday activities like dressing, eating, working or other important actions. By working with clients on changing the activity or environment, the disabled person is able to cope emotionally with a situation, or perform the task like tying their own shoe.

Common occupational therapy activities at our day care centers for disabled adults and senior day care centers focus on recovering from injuries, regaining skills, and coping with cognitive changes due to age. Clients receive an individualized assessment and treatment plan. The therapist, client and caregiver decide on goals together. Together, the therapist and client will work together to meet these goals, and adjust the plan or goals as needed. Our occupational therapists strive to create a fun, learning environment for each client to reach success.

What is Speech Therapy?

Speech and language therapies provide help to our disabled adults and senior clients who have trouble expressing themselves verbally or with tasks like eating, drinking and swallowing. Our speech therapists work closely with caregivers to assess and diagnose a treatment individualized for the client’s needs. Our adult day health care centers cater to both seniors and adults with disabilities.

Assistance with Some Activities of Daily Living https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/assisted-living/ Mon, 27 Apr 2020 10:17:07 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=962

Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers provides assistance with some activities of daily living for seniors and disabled adults.

Activities of Daily Living

Activities of daily living (ADLs) refer to routine activities that most people can do without assistance everyday. The following are the six basic ADLs:

  • Eating
  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Walking
  • Continence

As we age, our ability to live independently and without assistance is directly linked with our ability to engage with ADLs. How much assistance a disabled person or elderly person needs is often dependent on how well they can perform ADLs.

Assistance with ADLs

As part of our adult day service programs, we help senior and disabled participants prolong their autonomy and independence by assisting them with completing ADLs throughout the day. Our services typically include helping participants with eating, toileting, continence and walking, depending on their ability level. The following are examples of the types of clients who are welcome to attend Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers and may need assistance with ADLs:

  • Oxygen-dependent
  • Hospice patients
  • Legally blind
  • High or low functioning
  • Dementia/Alzheimer’s
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries

At Nevada Adult Day Healthcare, our adult day care services provide a safe place for adults with disabilities and adults with Alzheimer’s. To learn more about all the ADLs we provide assistance with, contact us today or visit one of our nearby locations. See a list of all our senior day care services.
