Inspirations Program https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/inspirations-program/ Fri, 26 Jan 2024 08:19:29 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=19008

Our Inspirations Program is very similar to our Expressions Program but we high or severe medical/developmental disabilities.  Toileting these special individuals may take 2 staff.  Nursing Services are readily available for this Program.

Again, we stimulate them cognitively, visually, auditory and even tactile or smell sensations.  One of the things we utilize is our Swings.  This is a special type of stimulation for our clients who are on their wheelchairs 24/7 365 days a year.  This gives them a very mild roller coaster experience and/or at other times a lullaby swinging type sensation. We even have the only Indoor Wheelchair Swing in the State.  There is a clear positive/joyous reaction to our Swings.

Senior Program https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/senior-program/ Fri, 29 Dec 2023 04:43:14 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18764

Our Senior Program provides a structured setting for adults who need daily health monitoring, cognitive and social stimulation, and fun physical activities that will help sharpen their senses. This community-based service is designed to meet the individual’s needs of functionally impaired adults who require supervision during the day. Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers (NADHC) promises to be respectful, attentive and loving to help enhanced their quality of life, and assure your loved one’s safety.

We have licensed professional nurses (RNs and LPNs) to monitor their health daily and perform medication management, we have a Registered Dietician to monitor their food intake and we have resources to offer Physician, Dentist, Podiatrist, Audiologist, Mental Health Services, Imaging, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Flu Shot Clinics by Walgreens and much more for the convenience of our clients and their caregivers.

Taking care of elderly parents at home by yourself can be emotionally, physically and financially taxing. Stay-at-home elderly care or private caregivers for the elderly are often much more costly and not a viable option for many families.  In addition, there are no social-physical-emotional benefits of individuals their same age to engage with.  NADHC offers a viable and cost-effective alternative for both the client and the caregivers.

Expressions Program https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/expressions-program/ Fri, 29 Dec 2023 04:41:05 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18758

Unlike the Annex Program, the Expressions Program is an unstructured-classroom style program for individuals with development disabilities who, at many times, need to be redirected.  However, we stimulate them cognitively, visually, auditory, and even through tactile and smell sensations.  We find that these various types of stimulation calm their behaviors and/or mannerisms.  They go home exhausted from all the activities and stimulations.  At the same time nursing services, through medication management and/or other types of care, are readily available for our clients in this program.

Despite our clients’ reaction or non-reaction to our various types of stimulation, we don’t give up because we do not warehouse our clients.  They will always have something to do to make an attempt to stimulate them.

Our Annex Program provides a structured-classroom style program where our individuals with developmental disabilities can follow direction.  In other words, when it is time to study simple math, geography, reading; and/or exercise, dance, singing or music programs; and/or simply when it is time to eat, our clients will follow the directions of their Teacher.

The types of clients who regularly attend our Annex Program include those who have with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, seizure disorders, and intellectually disabled individuals who are not normally given the chance to learn in a classroom environment. Annex Program Activities include educational learning, singing and dancing, live entertainment, field trips, playing the Wii, bingo, meeting new friends and many other cognitively stimulating activities they enjoy together every day. Each one of our activities is designed to keep our participants engaged, entertained and cognitively stimulated throughout the day.

Lastly, we also spend time celebrating our client’s birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. These activities combined create an environment for our clients to thrive together, become a family and celebrate Life together.

Podiatry Services https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/podiatry-services/ Thu, 28 Dec 2023 08:19:16 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18569

Podiatry is a branch of medicine dedicated to treating the foot, ankle and lower extremities. Podiatrists diagnose and treat medical conditions related to this area of the body. These doctors can treat podiatry diseases as they relate to sports medicine, pediatrics, dermatology and diabetes, and can even be the first to identify and diagnose systemic diseases in the body.

For disabled adults in adult care and seniors with Alzheimer’s in senior care, having access to podiatry services in nursing homes is important for maintaining their health. Feet problems may be one of the last things people think of when thinking about maintaining good health, but podiatry can become incredibly important when foot pain limits mobility further. Many disabled and senior citizens have limited mobility due to a variety of reasons, including intellectual disability, physical pain or injury, difficulty with balance, poor hygiene, etc. Utilizing podiatry services to help keep feet problems at bay is essential to maintain mobility and overall health in disabled and senior citizens.

Benefits of Senior Podiatry Services

  • Prevents mobility problems in seniors and disabled who already have limited mobility
  • Early diagnosis of systemic disease (ex. diabetes)
  • Helps seniors and disabled adults maintain independence with pain relief and increased mobility

Our mission is to maintain the independence and well-being of our elderly and disabled participants. This cannot be done without regular podiatry services for our patients. We provide regular podiatrist services for each of our participants on an ongoing basis, ensuring their foot health helps to maintain their overall well-being and independence.

Library https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/services/library/ Thu, 28 Dec 2023 08:18:41 +0000 https://nevadaadultdaycare.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=18567

Our adult and senior library services include providing an environment conducive to learning and maintaining independence. Furthering education and stimulating the mind, our library programs for older adults allow participants to choose from reading materials and educational literature.

Benefits of Reading for Seniors and Disabled Adults

Mental Stimulation

Reading provides readers with mental stimulation, a form of brain exercise that keeps the brain active and engaged. Research suggests that the mental stimulation that comes from reading can potentially slow or prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Mental stimulation is just as important for adults with intellectual and cognitive learning disabilities as it is for seniors. Although disability will still be present, helping disabled adults learn and forge new brain pathways through reading is helpful in maintaining their independence.

Improves Memory

The mental exercise reading provides your brain also contributes to improving short-term memory recall. Remembering what you read in a book will not only improve short-term memory, but it will also help to form and strengthen brain pathways. All of this will assist in slowing down the aging brain and keeping memories longer as well as strengthening the disabled person’s brain and improving their sense of independence through improved memory.

Reduces Stress

For many seniors and disabled citizens, reading is a great way to reduce stress and get lost in another’s story. Reading books provides an excellent distraction from any stress seniors are feeling in their everyday life, as well as stress disabled adults may be feeling about their disability.

Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers provides a place for seniors and disabled adults to continue learning in a safe environment with access to our library programs for older adults or seniors. To learn more about us and our senior library services, make an appointment to tour our daycare center for adults.
